After the Earth’s conditions become too hostile for humans due to war, global warming and pollution, a fictional interstellar megacorporation named Neo-Venus Construction (NEVEC) plans to colonize E.D.N. The first Lost Planet game takes place in the year known in the game as T.C. The third game was developed by Spark Unlimited instead of Capcom and it was available worldwide on August 2013, this time released for the all three systems (like the first two games) together. The second game was released worldwide on May 2010 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 before being ported to Microsoft Windows on October 2010. The first game was first released in Japan on December 21, 2006, before later being released outside Japan on January 12, 2007, it was originally intended to be an Xbox 360 exclusive but it was later ported to other platforms such as Microsoft Windows on June 2007 and PlayStation 3 on February 2008. The series consists of three installments, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, Lost Planet 2 and Lost Planet 3. It is also possible that some other technical or licensing complications arose regarding the original title. The Lost Planet video game series was developed and published by Capcom. Avoiding frustrations and segregating the online player base between the two versions may have influenced Capcom’s decision to remove the original Lost Planet from sale. Colonies includes all of the content from the original game and adds new maps and modes, but its save files and multiplayer progression are not compatible with the older release. No explanation has been given for the removal of the original Lost Planet, however the 2008 release of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies remains available to download on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Previous owners of the disc/digital versions of these titles should still be able to play them on an Xbox One console”. According to Microsoft’s Xbox One Backward Compatibility list, Lost Planet is denoted alongside several others with the note “This title may not be available in all regions and/or may not be available for purchase digitally in the Xbox Marketplace. The Xbox 360 Backwards Compatible version of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition was delisted from the Xbox Store no later than July 25th, 2021.
